Welcome to the Laboratory for applications of synchrotron radiation. (LAS)
The LAS was founded in 2004. We develop modern synchrotron technologies for the investigation of the structure and properties of condensed matter, nano-structures and micro-systems.
Synchrotron radiation is emitted by accelerated, relativistic charged particles. It occurs for example in electron storage rings and is produced in specially designed large scale synchrotrons for a multitude of analytical methods and many fields of work. The LAS participates in the operation of the synchrotron radiation source ANKA of the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe in close cooperation with the Institut für Synchrotronstrahlung (ISS).
